These sketches were from a life drawing session at MICA on December 6th, 2011. Apparently I never scanned them in.

More sketches from MICA’s Tuesday night life-drawing sessions.
Back in January, Alexis and I visited the Dr. Sketchy’s Boston branch who’s model that session was Persephone’s Playhouse. The theme was rope bondage which was pretty ambitious considering the number of ropes and knots that had to be tied between poses. It worked out pretty well and it looks like they run a pretty neat branch.
Next Dr. Sketchy’s Baltimore is April 25th with Ivory Twinkler of Gilded Lily Burlesque, btw. Look at this flyer (photo by Cheryl Fair) and tell me you don’t want to come.
It’s been a week or two since the last post, but I’ve been busy, I swear. 🙂
Attended the NYC Dr. Sketchy’s two weekends ago. It was their first corporate sponsered event, an absinthe company. The place was pretty damn crowded….anyone wearing green got a free shot, which is frankly a pretty brave way to do absinthe. One of the helper folks, who was helping work the door, didn’t make it past the first five minute break, and, after what appeared to be about three or four shots in forty-five minutes, had to run/be-carried to the door to spew.
(It’s not a Dr. Sketchy’s if someone doesn’t have to be helped to the door. [cough-Eliza])
In any case, I wasn’t in much of a mood to draw, and it was little cramped, so it shows in the sketches….
The next group of images are from the last session of MICA’s life-drawing class……
And that’s it.
That’s a lot of images. If it makes a mess out of folks’ page-loading, let me know and I’ll make sure not to put that many images in one post next time.
I’m off to play pool now…..I’m fairly certain that means the rest of my night is going to be taken up with snotty, tooth-missing, pool-geeks, hairspray hairdo’s that combined with a match could go all Die-Hard, watered-down beer, and urinal-cake strewn bathrooms. Survival necessitates either drinking heavily or sketching. Just in case I’m going to try both. Wish me luck.
I’m going to split this up into two posts, since there’s a lot of them. If WordPress works correctly, the second should post automatically sometime tomorrow while I’m drinking beers with sparklers in them.
There were two models present…….the long pose model was the only one who showed up first, so I drew him for a bit. After the short pose model showed up (he got lost in the building for about ten minutes) I switched to him for the rest of the class.
The next two are the short pose model…..and yes, that’s a farmer’s tan. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that….if you’re a boy who doesn’t lay out at the pool, you pretty much end up with one by default.)
The other sketches will go up tomorrow…….
These are from MICA’s Tuesday life drawing session. You can tell I was bored out of my mind by the third sketch. For some reason someone had run off with all the chairs in the studio space, leaving the artists nothing but high metal “bar stools” to sit on. Pretty uncomfortable. One guy must have gotten up and moved twenty times during the session in an attempt to get comfortable.
